INFORMATIONS ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
OKNO-ZBLIŻENIA. MEETING THEATRE.
PART II. DECONSTRUCTION OF THE FORM. AKHE THEATRE.

OKNO is a yearly series of meetings with the most interesting artists working in the field of contemporary alternative theatre. It is a continuation – in a changed formula – of the International Theatrical Meetings OKNO, launched in 1997.

The leitmotif of 2013 edition is the idea od deconstruction, regarding both formal quests and also the way of confronting oneself with the reality – the one on the outside, and the inner one. Our first guests, in April, were Teatr Porywacze Ciał from Poznań.

The project is financially supported by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
Second part is fully dedicated to the legendarny AKHE theatre group from Petersburg.
AKHE THEATRE

The group was founded by three members of Boris Ponizovski theatre "Yes - No" ( Maksim Isaev, Pavel Semtchenko, Vadim Vasiliev ) in 1989. Immediately the group announced itself as independent ( in term of styles and forms) and started their activity in a performance, cinema, fineart's fields. From 1996 they count themselves more like theatre collective. The members of the group take part in different theatre projects with other groups and theatres: Derevo (Russia/Germany), Lantaaren (Nederlands), Toihaus (Austria), Slava Polunin (Russia). They work as artists, stage designers, film directors. But they still use their education, working as the painters and designers for artictic and public places.

The group is often called the Optical Theatre or Russian Engineering Theatre. AKHE uses scenic (ideal) Space including (ideal) Light and Sound and consider themselves only as Operators. In this case the Space is one of the main characters of the show. The space mastered by the Operators is considered valuable and sufficient itself, yet without ignorance of the real Theatre laws.

TOPICS OF THE FESTIVAL
"MR CARMEN"

A performance that is based around the format of a duel. Theatrical reality collides here with everyday reality; this is text in its written form is opposed to a text which is read. The hero meets his alter ego. The action is enclosed in a small space. The empty space is bordered by a thin line; crossing it brings death to the hero. In yearning for death, the character proves his right to live. This is a protagonist who strikes out the word "Carmen" from Merime's text and inserts "Jose" instead. He signed his last letter using Carmen's name.

Performers: Maksim Isaev, Pavel Semchenko
Direction: Yana Tumina
Music: Vyacheslav Gaivoronskiy, Andrey Sizintsev
Light: Vadim Gololobov

"WHITE CABINE"

"Can a spectator influence what is happening on stage simply by his or her presence? Can the action onstage influence the very will of the spectator and the desire for self enrichment? Is it possible to project the action onstage directly into the mind and soul of the spectator?

The female protagonist of this multimedia piece faces all of these questions and many more. Her co-performers provoke her, creating magical situations where the simplest reactions are projected into a metaphorical, decidedly absurd realm.
