BUDA FOLK BAND - concert within the frames of 'The World on a Plate' festival.

BUDA FOLK BAND

The Buda Folk Band was formed in 2000. The group plays a different kind of Hungarian music based on the traditional regions of folk music.

The band members met in the music school where they learned from world-famous Muzsikás Ensemble musicians, such as Sándor Csoóri and Péter Éri. These teachers showed them that traditional folk music must be learned first hand and inspired young musicians to explore regions of the so-called 'historical Hungary' (such as Transylvania and other regions remaining today outside Hungarian borders). They found there very lively musical and folklore traditions, they met traditional musicians who later became their masters, like the fiddler Sándor Fodor 'Neti' from Kalotaszeg or musicians from the village of Magyarpalatka in Transylvania. These journeys, experiences and musical knowlege slowly found their way into their music to finally became a priority.
