LAILONIA - Kana Theatre performance
based on "13 tales from Lailonia Kingdom for large and small, and other tales" by Leszek Kolakowski.

The performance produced by the Kana Theatre (prem. September 2009) is considered to be one of the most surprising and promising theatrical adaptations of Leszek Kolakowski's works. Its rythmisized structure and emphasis on the team play, opens the space for improvisational acting. Built in contemporary, modest language, it puts the stage reality in quotes, and becomes a very personal expression of the actors' own fears, phobias and weaknesses. By using wry humor, playfulness and song, conveyed in the form of "theater within theater", it shows human helplessness and confusion in the world of values.

The show is acclaimed both by critics and the audience (eg. won the Audience Award at the XVIII Meeting of Alternative Theatre 'Klamra' 2010 in Torun). It has been presented, among others at the festival "Windowisko" (Gdańsk), "Maski" (Gdańsk), "Retro/per/spective" of Chorea Theatre (Łódź), Prague Theatre Review "Hajdpark (Warszawa)," Fama "(Świnoujście)," Kontrapunkt "and "Okno" (Szczecin) and Berlin (Studio Theater).

"The Kana team serves us a tasteful self-ironic theatrical dish. The experiment in the category of theater within theater turns out successful. (...) The lightness of the show is hugely a merit of great acting and directing. But also thanks to harmonious team who, although made of distinct individuals, remains a unity. And if they share similar sense of humor and know how to juggle it flawlessly - it will infect the audience and guarantee a successful piece."
[Beata Kalinowska. Teatralia Warszawa, 4 November 2009]
