7th International Street Artists Festival - BONDS OF CULTURE

12th - 15th JULY, 2006

We would like to invite you for the next edition of the festival showing every year that Szczecin can be a colourful, living place filled with rhythm, dance, music and theatre.

We are starting on Wednesday (July 12th) - in accordance with the several year tradition of co-operation with the MONAR Association, young people directed by actors of the Kana Theatre, will prepare for this evening a special open-air show titled "Which way?", being a sort of artistic "halfway point" of this year art-therapy programme 'Art as Drug'. Just after the show - in the lawn near the Kana Theatre - Pogodno band will play the gig presenting their newest songs composed for the "Opherafolia" performance.

Next day (July 13th) evening is planned as a special meeting of various cultures. The first to play is the Sejny Theatre Klezmer Band - a musical group working in the Centre "Borderland - of arts, cultures and nations" in Sejny, combining research zeal with passion to play (among their teachers are famous klezmer musicians Paul Brody and David Krakauer). Then, in the Castle Bailey - performance titled "Iob" by Lviv-based Voskresinnya Theatre, a show full of vision and fire, using also traditional chants of the Orthodox Church.

Since Friday (July 14th) we want to invite habitants of Szczecin to take part in many open-air artistic workshops in painting, photography, drumming, dancing, acting, singing (they will be continued on Saturday - enrolling and info: tel. 4330388). Among the festival events there will be also a special Polish-German post-workshop presentation - the result of several-week work of artists from, among others, Szczecin, Goleniow and Broellin. Friday is also marked with Czech and Russian accent: The Novogo Fronta Theatre (Prague / St. Petersburg - known to Szczecin audience from the Magic Russia Festival) will show their new piece "Dybbuk" in the Kana Theatre. In the evening the festival will be continued in the area of the University Campus (Al. Piastów 40B). We will see the performance of the Strefa Ciszy Theatre titled "Learning to Fly" (just ater the first presentation in Poznan), and later the famous open-air show "The Ark" by the Eight Day Theatre.

On Saturday (July 15th) the afternoon programme will start with performances of German buskers in the Boguslawa Promenade. The Promenade will be a starting point of the theatrical expansion to the streets: first, the parade titled "Vakokodeska" by the Czech group Continuo, and then a wandering performance "Ramayana", performed by Szczecin audience favourites, a Norwegian group Stella Polaris. Finally, evening performances at the Castle bailey: masters of stilts acrobatics - The Cie Couleurs Mecaniques Theatre from France with their performance "Re-Bond 007" and the "Sapucaiu no Samba" team - masters of samba pagoda and samba batucada (three time winners of the Berlin Festival of Cultures), accompanied by strong rhythms of the SAMBAL drummers. In this way we want to establish artistic bond between Jewish, Ukrainian, Hindu, Brazilian, Polish, German, Czech, Russian, French and Norwegian cultures and traditions. The bonds of culture.
